IMMUNE BOOSTING FOODS

Is the Immune System made up of a single organ?

No. The immune system is a network of many organs, specialized cells, tissues and proteins working together to protect the body from harmful bacteria, viruses, air pollutants and diseases.

Do Scientists understand the immune system completely?

No. The immune system is very complex. Till today, Scientists do not know fully how it functions, not to mention "control" it. This is why there is still no cure for autoimmune disease and allergies; doctors can only suppress the symptoms. This is also why doctors cannot prevent cytokine storms in COVID-19 patients, because no one knows why cytokine storms occur in some patients and not in others.

Polysaccharides, such as beta-glucans, have cancer-fighting properties.

Each type of mushroom contain a unique combination of polysaccharides, antioxidants, and phytochemicals.

The more varieties of mushrooms you eat, the richer the nutritional value you take in.

A study published in the International Journal of Cancer with over 36,000 male participants aged 40 - 79 found that

  • Those who consumed mushrooms once or twice a week had 8% lower risk of prostate cancer.

  • Those who consumed mushrooms three or more times a week had 17% lower risk of prostate cancer
